It’s all about a simple long sleeve at the moment. Those slouchy cotton l/s crew necks by Beare Park have had a thorough workout in both our wardrobes over the last year or so. And here in Melbourne, at winter’s halfway mark, our long-sleeve fine knits have been working overtime layered under tees, shirts and heavier knits.

But because there is no shortage of long-sleeve basics on store racks and shelves right now, the process of browsing and actually sorting the good from the great can feel like a pretty arduous task. We’re all about making shopping easier, so, with that in mind — and at the request of several of our subscribers — we’ve dedicated an entire edit to the best long-sleeve basics on the market right now, exclusively focusing on Australian and Kiwi labels. To make life even easier, we’ve divided the edit into core categories, because each fit and silhouette plays slightly different roles in your wardrobe. And if you love a style below, know that most of them come in multiple colours.

Stay warm out there!

The Loose V-Neck Options

A high V-neck, slouchy, loose long-sleeve tee is arguably the basic du jour. Look for a heavier cotton jersey fabrication to keep the shape looking somewhat structured and intentional (and to stop you from feeling like a slob…as is our MO most of the time).

ASSEMBLY LABEL / Stella V Neck Long Sleeve Tee — $50

  2. BEARE PARK / V-Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt — $160

  3. A.EMERY / The Persey Top — $140

A Loose Crew Neck for Everyday

A staple so simple that it’s easy to overlook, but when you buy a quality version, you’ll never go back. See: aforementioned Beare Park long-sleeve tee (linked below). Love the embroidery on the Deering sleeve — imagine that poking out of your coat cuff.

DEERING / Reach for Me Top — $220
