The Shopping List: February
The ten things we can't stop thinking about this month.
We’re baaaack! Was it just us, or was January 300 years long? February always feels like things click back into place after the chaotic good times of the summer holidays (especially if you have kids!), which makes it a nice time to plug back in with our regular monthly shopping lists.
We know so many of you love these monthly round-ups (and we really love compiling them) but it’s tickled us to no end to see that you’re also enjoying some of our recent guest edits (Sally Tabart on postpartum dressing here, Paula Joyce on thrifting, Ashiya Omundsen on summer dressing). It’s made us want to bring you more practical, realistic inspiration c/o our wonderful community in 2026, as well as continue to share expert tips from Soph and thoughts on how style slots into our sense of self from Annie. We’re excited. It’s going to be another big year.

FRIENDS WITH FRANK / The Bonnie Top — $279.00
This is sitting on my summer wishlist for a few reasons, chief among them being that I would really like to feel sexy but I absolutely loathe how my arms look right now but I would like to expose some skin but I actually cannot deal with anything clinging to my body but also I think ‘fuck it’ I shouldn’t care what the world thinks of my body but then I remember that I very much do care. I do, so sue me.
I think most women look good in a loose halter silhouette. The shoulder is an underappreciated asset on most bodies. Round, angular or somewhere in between. They are hot in all forms. A camisole cuts you off right on the bit of your decolletage that should be ogled. But a strapless top can give that weird squishy armpit effect, and also I CBF trying to deal with a strapless bra or lack of one to feel at all comfortable.
This top by FWF (which is turning out some great pieces right now) answers several of my concerns. I love black in summer (all year, but especially in summer), and the asymmetric button detail gives it just enough. It’s a no bra situation, but because it’s not skin tight, that’s OK with me. Manifesting me wearing this with a freshly chopped bob for dinner at Ellie’s Kiosk before summer’s out.

MAI MAI / Lan Studded Eyelet Suede Sandal — $149
I’ve been eyeing these delicious slate grey suede leather sandals from new local label Mai Mai for a few weeks now and I’ve found myself wanting to wear them with almost every outfit I put together, which leads me to believe they would’ve already paid for themselves. You see I currently have a neutral toned sandal gap in my wardrobe, the old options I do have are ivory which I love but they’re chunkier than i’m wanting for right now. So my only sandals are black. Black is great because it goes with most, but it can also be to harsh or hard or ‘edgy’ for some looks. Then a white or ivory can sometimes feel too fresh. These are the perfect middle ground, muddy neutral, ring 3 tone.
The only thing stopping me from hitting go to date is that my size is sold out but I now have it on good authority that the size 40 in grey will be restocked in a week or so. See you soon beautiful bbs.

NATASHA SCHWEITZER / Gothic Letter Attachment — $550.00
I have spent the summer purging my wardrobe of more pieces that no longer feel right to me — things I haven’t worn in over a year — to make room (and cash) for things that feel very right to come into my world. This letter charm by Natasha Schweitzer is by no means cheap, but I figure if I can fund it with a Depop or Goodbyes schlep, I’m in the clear to make it mine (not with an A, but with a V - for my son).
Letter charms lost their appeal for me in recent years (I own at least six letter charm necklaces, all of which are currently packed away) - but I AM hella sentimental. The combination of the parrot clasp and the gothic lettering on this piece elevates the trope, and gives it a little acidic edge. Just enough to sharpen out the saccharine sweetness of it all. Perfect.

APRÈS STUDIO / Calypso Stripe Top — $169
Eeeeeeeeeeee the perfect little vintage looking striped, just sliiiightly cropped, yet relaxed fit 3/4 sleeve tee. Sigh. Ever since seeing this style of fit on Paula Joyce a couple of newsletters ago, i’ve felt i’ve needed something similar to appear for me. And just like that, Sydney based label Apres Studio comes into my consciousness again.
I don’t want to look at a simple tee right now. Give me print, unique silhouette and interesting design details or nothing right now. I also think the length of this tee will have just the perfect amount of bumpage on my preggie belly right now. I wanna wear with a midi skirt a la Paula below, or with a low waisted maxi skirt. Or this.

BLANCA from INCU / Lily Top — $180.00
This with these pants and these shoes. A perfect hot day outfit, even with the aforementioned mental spiral about arms out. Would also wear layered over a baggy white-ish tee and these jeans, sans toddler.
Sophie
BLANCA / Tumi Skirt — $460
Ohh emm gee, ohemgee. I want this skirt so bad. It’s so not within the budget right now but I am willing it into my orbit because I really feel like we’d be best friends. Even during pregnancy. Perhaps on a toddler free day.

CHRISTOPHER ESBER / Deconstruct Denim Jean — $540.00
I generally don’t love when designers try to get too tricky with jeans — it’s like, just apply your superior design skills to giving us the perfect pair of jeans that will make everyone look like their legs are 100 ft long, please, for the love of God. But, in this instance, I very much welcome Christopher’s lil flair with that two-toned, minimal waistband. The perfect amount of tomfoolery for this minimalist.
I have been living in silk and cotton elastic waistband pants this summer, but with February in our sights, I’m ready to shift away from resort vibes towards something a little more on duty. Without giving up on my comfort, of course. I think these jeans might be it. I’ll report back.
P.S. For anyone who loves a bit of Christopher Esber but is priced out (which I am most of the time), the sale at the moment is quite good. I had my eye on this beautiful silk scarf, these jacquard sneakers, and this denim jacket…pretty good value, with or without the brooch!
Sophie
LOVE ISABELLE / Valere Jasper Necklace — $169
My current favourite colour in a necklace: that sickly, muddy, chartreusey colour. I’m wondering when i’m going to be sick of bead necklaces, I think i’m nearing but not there yet.
Annie
SKIMS from END. / Jersey Baby Tee — $129.00
I feel a little sacrilegious including SKIMS, given we are truly committed to supporting Australian labels as much as possible, but I simply cannot not include this tee here.
People love to talk shit about Kim, but the woman has created a very clever brand in Skims (speaking as someone who works in PR…the murkin thong was a stroke of earned media genius). The underwear is truly innovative and GOATable in my books, and I lived in my Skims pyjamas and robe for the first few weeks of my son’s life.
Love this lil baby tee with a floor skimming silk slip skirt, or an oversized slouchy pair of black trousers (I just bought these and they are a perfect lightweight option for summer going into autumn).
Sophie
E NOLAN x L’ECLISSE / Ballet Flats — $650
Ok these aren’t in the budget either but they are the ballet that’s brought me closest to actually wanting to wear a ballet flat again. I’m going to road test them just to tempt fate so i’ll make sure I film it and share. I need to be able to walk in my flats all day, as my work is mostly on foot - so they need to WORK! They look like they will, I’ll report back.

I just bought the Mai Mai shoes based off this rec - thank you! And I see the restock of sizes is there now 😮
Yes to everything here! Even though the Skims shirt feels dangerously close to “boob popping out” territory 🤣
